Job Description
Art Director: Main Tasks
- Works closely with the creative director, copy lead, and creative team members in all stages of the creative process, from brainstorming to execution
- Produces creative concepts and executions across multiple platforms for client briefs and new business pitches
- Establishes compelling art direction, visual style, and tone for all creative output
- Ensures that materials are clear, concise, and persuasive in bringing the strategy to life
- Creates visual and interactive content that can educate, motivate, empower, and affect positive change
- Manages and mentors a team of designers to ensure continuous professional development
- Inspires teammates and other agency associates with creativity, personality and work ethic
- Coordinates with the internal account team to ensure that team creative output meets the requirements of the client brief
Specific Tasks: Strategy and Planning
- Contributes to creative campaign pitches for potential clients
- Contributes in the ideation of content calendars for social media and web-based newsletters
- Meets with clients to present project updates and new design directions
- Provides recommendations to clients during design consultations
- Plans, designs, and supervises user experience design
- Researches on trends, technologies, and processes in the field of marketing communication and design
- Performs visual audits and provides recommendations for clients’ existing digital presence
- Participates in client workshops upon training by Evident
Specific Tasks: Production
- Designs, develops, and manages visual branding for Evident and its clients
- Creates and directs engaging and compelling visual content such as infographics, social cards, GIFs, illustrations, photos, and videos
- Oversees work of partner web designers and developers during the production, development and deployment stage: wireframes, mockups, prototypes, web development, testing, deployment
- Checks the quality of all visual output
- Oversees photo or video shoots
Specific Tasks: Management
- Manages and directs a team of creative designers to meet the goals of the company
- Monitors and assesses the individual performance of designers and interns
- Interviews and selects potential hires and external suppliers
- Assigns tasks judiciously amongst designers, interns, and freelancers
- Develops timelines and manages production of assets and output for the design team
- Implements and improves intra- and inter-departmental processes to ensure efficiency of workflows
- Ensures that all work of the design team are submitted in a timely manner
- Mentors junior members of the design team to enable further professional development
- Regularly coordinates with creative director and copy lead regarding team projects and members
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ significant experience in advertising, design, or visual communication
- Strong portfolio with demonstrated examples of work across multiple channels including web, mobile, social, and experiential
- A clear understanding of the creative process and capable of delivering projects on strat, on time, and on budget
- Ability to work cross-functionally and with a fast-paced team
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Capability to produce creative work that can achieve client and business goals
- Ability to think strategically and conceptualize creatively
- Shows maturity and readiness for leadership
- Demonstrates accountability and is a team player
