About the Role

As a Public Relations (PR) Manager, you will play a key role in the development of the Advocacy Communications business unit by managing and growing strategic accounts that will be assigned to you, as well as expanding the unit’s PR and media visibility. You are required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner:

 

Business Development

  • Lead and facilitate business development activities: find PR project leads, develop the pipeline, and win contracts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various Evident stakeholders — media actors, government officials, private sector associations, and multilateral institutions — to execute campaigns 
  • Build, maintain, and grow relationships with existing clients; find ways to collaborate beyond a predefined scope of work 
  • Respond to, and engage with, any sales inquiries or requests for information

 

Strategy and Planning

  • Provide strategic inputs in campaign development, agency management, client servicing, and stakeholder alignments
  • Establish and deepen Evident’s relationship with traditional and non-traditional media; improve the firm’s ongoing media relations practice; introduce advocacy communications staff to journalists 
  • Help lead and mentor advocacy communications staff in the execution of campaigns and client engagements. Discover and develop their unique strengths in order to see where and how they can contribute better to the organization.
  • Collaborate with team members in the development of accurately written strategy briefs, job requests, and minutes of agreements
  • Lead and participate in the creation of strategic plans and other communication products for internal and external clients
  • Draft budgets and work plans for internal and client approval 
  • Craft marketing presentations and presentations for clients
  • Commit to continuous learning and staying abreast of trends in communication, social media, NGO communications, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, public policy, and other related fields

 

Project Lead and Management

  • Execute and operationalize client contracts
  • Respond to clients’ requests for advisory and consultation for, but not limited to strategy development, communication, PR, and influencer planning and implementation, and community relations
  • Closely collaborate with the Corporate and Public Affairs (CPA) Associate Director for CPA, Media Relations Specialist, and Project Manager/s to successfully create, market, and implement products and projects
  • Develop story plans, press releases, feature stories, story pitches, and other related materials not included in this list
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders when required
  • Lead proper client and team onboarding
  • Provide support with day-to-day client contact
  • Act as primary point of contact of the unit’s media and influencer partners
  • Anticipate and inform internal servicing team and client of any possible issues that may arise during a project, and manage the outcomes of these
  • Oversee the overall production of deliverables and leading the team in ensuring that outputs align with strategies, deadlines, and expected quality
  • Act as client’s “brand champion” and police any anticipated deviations to strategy
  • Coordinate with suppliers and freelancers, as needed
 

Operations and Special Projects

  • Where assigned, lead special projects such as process improvements, marketing, business developments, events, training, etc.
