Celebrate the Spirit of Giving by Supporting These NGOs

It’s the season of giving once again and we don’t just mean Christmas! GivingTuesday is also happening on November 29, 2022. This day is an international celebration of acts of generosity and giving. Joining GivingTuesday is simple: just perform an act of kindness, share content about it on social media and use the hashtags #GivingTuesdayPH and #OneToBayanihan, and encourage others to join!

Last year, we participated in GivingTuesday for the first time by hosting the Pusit Games – our take on the popular Squid Games. This year, we want to continue encouraging and celebrating the spirit of giving by contributing to the organizations and causes that we care about the most. Here are five orgs that we recommend you support this giving season (and beyond)!

1. Cartwheel Foundation, Inc. (CFI)

Having worked with various NGOs in different regions of the Philippines, we understand the needs and challenges our local indigenous peoples (IPs) face when it comes to access to education. That’s why we support CFI’s efforts to preserve and nurture Filipino indigenous heritage through education. Since 1999, CFI has helped about 11,000 indigenous peoples (IPs) all over the country by providing them access to education. They currently have three education and capacity-building programs that aim to empower IPs: the Young Indigenous Peoples (YIP) Leaders Program, Adult Capacity Building (ACaP) Program, and Education and Child Development  (ECD) program.

They currently accept support in the form of sponsorships, donations, and volunteerism. You may go straight to their “I Want to Help” page to offer help directly, or learn more about them by browsing their website: cartwheelfoundation.org. You may also follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

2. Red Cubs Pet Patrol

Team Evident is full of animal lovers that support various animal welfare organizations, and Red Cubs Pet Patrol is just one of many! This independent organization rescues stray and impounded animals and organizes regular kapon (spay/neuter) missions for strays and rescue animals around Antipolo, Bulacan, and Laguna.

Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to learn how to donate directly, or buy merch from their Shopee store to show your support.

3. I Support the Girls Manila

Being a company led by women, organizations that empower and support women and girls are near and dear to our hearts. I Support the Girls Manila is the Philippine arm of a global movement to provide bras, underwear, napkins, and feminine hygiene products to impoverished or homeless women and girls.

Visit them on Instagram or Facebook to learn more about how you can support and donate, or visit the global website for more information.

4. Bahay ni Juan (by Habitat for Humanity Philippines)

Working with Habitat for Humanity Philippines on this project reminded us just how important it is for every Filipino to have a decent, dignified home. Homes are not simply shelters. They offer protection from harm and illness and can even improve the mental health and overall well-being of those living in them. Supporting Bahay ni Juan is an opportunity for all of us to pitch in and address the dire need for decent housing in the Philippines.

Give Filipino families the gift of hope this Christmas by supporting their Pasko sa Bahay ni Juan Christmas campaign. Buy something from their Christmas catalog, or learn more about the project here.

5. Teach for the Philippines

We recently worked with Teach for the Philippines (TFP) for their Kilapsaw roadshow to celebrate their 10th anniversary, and the stories of the teachers, students, and schools they support truly warmed our hearts. For the past decade, TFP has been striving to ensure all Filipino children benefit from an excellent, inclusive, and relevant education. Through its three core programs (Fellowship Program, Ambassadors Program, and Public School Teacher Pathways), they’ve been empowering educators to bring quality education to different far-flung communities around the country.

Remember: Giving doesn’t always need to be in the form of big material gifts. Showing your support by volunteering or donating can make a huge impact and inspire others to give as well. No matter how or what you choose to give this holiday season, make sure to celebrate it with a post using hashtags #GivingTuesdayPH and #OneToBayanihan. Let’s spread the spirit of giving and bayanihan this Christmas!
